| Distinct IMAP Object | | |
The Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) provides a way to access and manipulate electronic mail that is stored on a remote shared mail server. Although IMAP, which Distinct implements as an ActiveX component, is able to handle offline processing in a similar way to POP3, its main advantage is in its ability to allow online and disconnected operation. IMAP can essentially allow email clients to operate on remote message stores as though they were local to the user.
