Summary
Type of encoding used.
Description
The Encoding property specifies the type of encoding to be used for the message. This
property is used to build the "Encoding" field of the header.
If used it must be set in the OnSetHeader events, after the CreateMessage method has
been called (or set before setting the Action property to the deprecated ACTION_CREATE
value, calling the deprecated Create or CreateX method, and in the deprecated OnHeader
event).
The Encoding property can be assigned one of the following values.
| Value |
Meaning |
| "text" |
No encoding plain text. |
| "base64" |
Base64 encoding. |
| "quoted-printable" |
Quoted-printable encoding. |
| "uuencode" |
UUencode. |
| "binhex" |
BinHex encoding. |
The MIME control uses this field to automatically encode the file while creating the
message.
For non-MIME messages, the Encoding property can be set to "text" or
"uuencode". For MIME messages, the Encoding property can be set to
"text", "base64", "binhex" or "quoted-printable".
For a binhex encoded message the ContentType property must be set to
"application" and the SubType property must be set to "mac-binhex40".
The MIME ActiveX control will set this property during the message extraction process,
immediately prior to firing the OnRecvHeader event. The OnRecvHeader event occurs in
response to calling the ExtractMessageEnd. (This property is also set by the deprecated
OnHeader event, after the Extract or ExtractX method has been called.) The extracted file
will be decoded automatically by the MIME control. Please check this property during the
OnRecvHeader and OnExtract events. The value of this property will change with each
OnRecvHeader and OnExtract event.
This property can be changed at any time. There is no default value for this property.
Example
Private Sub MIME_OnSetHeader(Info As String, Length As Integer, Status As Integer)
Mime.ContentType = "multipart"
Mime.Subtype = "mixed"
Mime.Encoding = "quoted-printable"
.
.
End Sub
