Summary

Description of attachment file.

Description

The FileDesc property describes the attachment file when creating or extracting a message.

During the create message process, initiated by the CreateMessage method the FileDesc property can be set to a description of the attachment in the OnSetHeader event.

During the extract message process, initiated by calling ExtractMessageEnd, the FileDesc property will be set to the description of the extracted file. This property is set by the ActiveX control in the OnRecvHeader.

The application can encode this property when creating a message. To encode the file description the EncodeHdrField method must be called, the data to be encoded is set in the OnEncodeField event. If the method is successful then the EncodedField property will contain the encoded field. This property can then be set to that value (ie Mime.FileDesc = Mime.EncodedField). On extraction this property may be encoded, to decode it call the DecodeHdrField method with the value of this property and the decoded header field will be delivered in one or more OnDecodeField events.

This property can be changed at any time. There is no default value for this property.

Example

Private Sub MIME_OnSetHeader(Info As String, Length As Integer, Status As Integer)
Mime.ContentType = "multipart"
Mime.Subtype = "mixed"
Mime.Encoding = "base64"
Mime.FileName = "myfile.txt"
Mime.FileDesc = "This file contains test information."
.
End Sub

"The night before I went on summer holiday we had to make some 'last minute' configuration changes to approx. 300 routers, a tedious job to do manually with telnet. We went along with MS Excel containing a list of IP-adresses to the routers, and the VIT telnet-component. One hour later the VBA-application (small is beautiful) was working, and after another hour all of our routers were updated with the new configuration. I just say a big "Thanks" to you all for a good sleep that night."
