  • New version 5.1

With Scheduler and automatic database creation

In response to customer demand, Distinct Network Monitor version 5.1 now includes a scheduler that allows you to run a scheduled collection of network traffic statistics or packet captures. With the new scheduling feature, you no longer have to remember to start and stop Distinct Network Monitor when you are trying to build a constant record of traffic during specific time periods. Just set the parameters you wish, like a special filter and schedule the monitor to start and stop at any given time. For example, you could run a daily capture from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or you could start a capture at any time of night without needing to be present. If you are collecting only the network statistics, then a new database file will even be automatically opened when no more data can be written to the first one. With Network Monitor automatically doing all the capturing for you, all that is left is for you to run the reports needed by management to monitor network activity and these too can be scheduled. The combination of Distinct Network Monitor and its ReportBuilder allows automated network traffic monitoring and reporting letting you concentrate on other areas of network management.

    [How to upgrade]

    New version 5.0

Now with ReportBuilder for more detailed network traffic reports

Version 5 includes an enhanced reporting system that details network usage down to the last packet captured. Its enhanced capture driver and parsing engine allow the product to work with higher volumes of traffic than before.

With enhancements to almost all its previous features Network Monitor now adds the ability to capture the network statistics directly to an Access database file, making the way for it’s new report builder to create ever more detailed HTTP and FTP reports on the traffic that is on a particular network segment.

The new report builder comes with several predefined templates that look at different aspects of the statistics gathered, as well as the capability to build custom templates for different levels of detail in reports.

NEW VERSION of Distinct Network Monitor

Now with better drill down capability, better reports, integrated whois, port discovery, and more.

Version 4.2 of Distinct Network Monitor has been released. This new release contains several enhancements to the usability of the Distinct Network Monitor. Some of these enhancements include:
    • IP Statistics now have a three level drill down system. Clicking on any IP address detected on the network will show which communication protocols the system was using such as SMTP for sending email. Clicking on a protocol will list all the IP addresses it has been talking to. In addition, you are now able to right click on any outside IP address to query the appropriate WhoIs database to find out who the IP address belongs to.
    • Network protocols have a drill down capability showing all the local hardware addresses that generated the packets.
    • A new menu item called Reports allows the easy creation of html and csv based statistics reports.
    • New tools allow you to discover which ports on a system are open and listening for a connection.
    • New menu allows to find next packet marked with error or warning - easily

    NEW VERSION

Distinct Network Monitor now parsing VoIP packets

Distinct Corporation has released version 4.1 of Distinct Network Monitor. This new release contains several major and minor enhancements. Some of these are:

Filters. Filters can now be built using built-in filter templates. This greatly simplifies the creation of most filters as it removes the requirement to handle logical expressions.

Statistics. Statistics now also displays the outside IP addresses detected on the network segment and shows the IP pairs of which IP is talking to which local IP.

Parsers. Version 4.1 now parses the H323, SIP and SDP VoIP protocols.

Version 4.1 also includes several minor enhancements such as the ability to choose which statistics windows to display and to turn DNS lookup off, if this is slowing down your system. The IP Traffic, Network Protocols and All traffic charts are all showing additional data items.

In the advanced Filters dialog box, filter rules can now be moved up/down in the filter rule listing. A number of predefined fields have been added to the IP, UDP, TCP, BGP, RIP, LPR, BOOTP, DHCP, TFTP and PPPLCP protocol filters removing the necessity to filter by offset for these fields.
